Project C03

Project C03 focuses on the role of dopamine in motivating movements while extending the scope to the influence of bodily states. In the 1^st FP, project C03 provided direct evidence that the reduction of effortful movements in Parkinson’s disease depends on motivation and that this effect is associated with striatal dopamine. In the 2^nd FP, they will investigate if the motivation for motor effort is modulated by sham-controlled transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation and if this modulation is dopamine dependent.
