Network-level mechanisms underlying adaptation of motor control

We aim to disentangle how reward learning interacts with error-based learning from a systems-level perspective. We will use a visuomotor adaptation task combined with functional brain imaging (fMRI) and analyses of connectivity to assess the neural basis of how the human brain updates motor control of the upper limb in response to visuomotor perturbations. The investigation of stroke patients will allow us to understand how cortico-basal ganglia-cerebellar dynamics are affected by reorganization and help to identify specific interaction patterns associated with successful recovery of motor function.
