DISSECTING THE MOUSE CIRCUITS FOR MOTOR EXECUTION IN A DETERMINISTIC REVERSAL LEARNING TASK

The interdisciplinary project I03 investigates how inhibitory spinal circuits and descending neuromodulatory signals are coordinated during goal-directed forelimb movement and motor learning in mice. By integrating chemogenetic and advanced imaging approaches with quantitative kinematic analyses, we examine the contributions of V1 inhibitory interneurons in the ventral spinal cord and serotonergic modulation from the caudal raphe to enable precise, stable forelimb motion. Thereby, the project will advance the understanding of how brain-spinal networks support flexible and adaptive motor control.
