Project B07
Personalization of subcortical circuitry for clinical applications
©TechSolution; Shutterstock
Project B07 aims to personalize maps of subcortical brain circuitry for clinical use in movement disorders and deep brain stimulation. The project builds on the FOCUS atlas, a highly detailed 3D model of basal-ganglia white-matter anatomy, and extends it toward cerebellar, pontocerebellar and cerebellothalamic pathways. In parallel, B07 develops SUBMARINE, a method that refines atlas-based fibre pathways using patient-specific diffusion MRI data. These individualized circuit models will be evaluated in DBS cohorts from CRC 1451, including patients with Parkinson’s disease, Essential Tremor and Tourette’s syndrome, to test whether personalized connectome models better explain clinical and behavioural outcomes.
